I am a graphic designer, photographer and printmaker based in Brentwood, Essex although I grew up in Yorkshire near the Pennines.
I have been printmaking at East London Printmakers for a couple of years now having first completed a course in screen printing there in September 2018. I like the fact that I can use photography as a basis for printmaking and I started by trying to reflect the graphic quality of stone walls on the hillsides in Yorkshire.
In my photography projects, I often focus on the urban landscape at night because I like the way darkness filters out irrelevant details so that places become merely abstract things. I am interested in the disconnectedness we experience in these highly illuminated places which is at odds with the expansion of communications technologies.
I studied Fine Art and History of Art at Goldsmiths’ College and quite a while later I did an MA in Communication Design at Central Saint Martin’s.
